Weird introductory question:
When you and your boyfriend/girlfriend break up, do you keep the things he/gave to you?
The reason I am asking this is because it's how I happen to have acquired a copy of Ransom Riggs' Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. And every time I hear or see Miss Peregrine, I always remember the story of how got my hands on the book. If you want to skip the story, it's okay. It all began with my friend's love life...
I have a friend, and she had a rich boyfriend back in 2012 who buys her anything. I swear! Anything! The boyfriend bought her books (from The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks to Ransom Riggs' Miss Peregrine's, and a few more) bags, stuffed animals etc... When they broke up, she wanted to get rid of all the gifts he gave to her. Guess what she did? She gave away all the stuff the ex-boyfriend gave to her. And being the fabulous friend who loves to read, she handed most of the books down to me, including Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Our other friends got the stuffed animals and all the other non-book stuff.
Almost four years later, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children remains unread. I have been wanting to read it, but I guess the creepy pictures in the book freaked me out a bit. I started reading it a few years back, but I set it aside and never really got back to it until now. Yes, I will find time to read the book before the movie comes out.

MOVIE UPDATE:
The big screen adaptation of Ransom Riggs' best selling book stars Eva Green (as Miss Peregrine), Asa Butterfield (as Jacob Portman), and Samuel L. Jackson (as Barron), and it is directed by the one and only, Tim Burton. The official movie poster and the official trailer has already been released, and the movie will premiere on September 30, 2016.
Even though I haven't read it yet, I am still extremely excited to watch this movie mainly because of Asa Butterfield and Tim Burton. But mostly, Asa. In case you did not know, he also stars in some other popular movies like Ender's Game (with Hailee Stiendfeld), Hugo (with Chloe Moretz), Nanny McPhee Returns, and The Boy in Striped Pajamas.
